Visit Los Santos for Carnivals
Panama | admin | July 7, 2010Bordering the Veraguas Province and the Herrera Province, Los Santos Province is situated on the Azuero Peninsula. From Panama City, it is about four to five hours drive. The province is divided into seven districts. Las Tablas is the capital city of Los Santos and believed to be a carnival center of Panama. The town is famous for many carnivals such as the Festival of the Patron Santa Librada and the Festival Nacional de la Pollera. Las Tablas is a beautiful town, which reach in Spanish architecture as well as history. The government buildings and historic churches surrounding the Central Plaza are the main feature of the town.

Los Santos Province has some of the best beaches of Panama, which stretches about 125 miles on the coastline. Some of the best beaches include Las Almendras, Destiladeros, El Toro, El Arenal, as well as the in the district of Los Uveritos and Pedasi is a beach named Punta Mala. A beach between districts of Tonosi and Pedasi, Playa Venado is very famous among surfers and many surfing competitions are held. Even the black sand at the Isla Iguana is fave among the tourists. From Pedasi if you take a boat, you will reach within twenty minutes. The activities such as snorkeling and surfing are very popular on the beaches.
There two famous parks close to Los Santos: Isla Iguana Wildlife Refuge and Cerro Hoya National Park. The museums close by the Los Santos includes the Museum Belisario Porras, the Museum Manuel F. Zarate, and the Museum of Nationality. There are few archeological sites, a tourists must visit, which are the Church of San Antanacio, the Church of Santa Librada and the Sitio Arqueologico Cerro Juan Diaz.

A small fishing town named Pedasi situated in Los Santos, on the edge of Azuero Peninsula is now attracting many rich investors and celebrities. The picturesque coastal areas of Panama have increased the estate prices in the Los Santos. Even the estate price of the nearby villages such as Pocri, Tonosi, and Las Tablas has increased because of fame of the Pedasi.
The coastline of the Pedasi stretches from the southeast to southwest of Azuero Peninsula i.e. from Punta Mala to Punta Naranjo and lies on the Tuna Coast. It is also a great place to fish where you have variety of fishes to catch and have range of charter boats to hire. The beaches near the Pedasi provides off shore diving with great scenic views as well as beach as Vendo has good swells for surfing. The there is also a national park around the Isla Iguana. The beaches are pretty less crowded and great place to escape from bustle.
Just a couple of months before, Pedasi had a hostel to for accommodation but now there are several hotels, lodges and restaurants opened. The rates are also economical to cheapest to get whether it be place to stay or food.
Pedasi village is very quite and clean place as well as developed. The roads are well maintained and locals are also very friendly. It is has been alluring many tourists as well as Hollywood celebrities towards it by it jagged rocky coast, rolling hills, strikingly dark beaches.
The climate of Panama is divided into two seasons: dry season and wet season.
The best time to visit there in the dry season, which is between December to mid- April. The wet season begins between mid- June through November.
Los Santos is great place to spend you vacations, let it be family or alone. It will not actually matter, as there are so many activities from snorkeling to hiking, picturesque sceneries and much more, that you will not be bore and never feel like leaving this place. Los Santos has many beautiful and pristine beaches; world famous carnivals are held here and culturally rich.
