    The Mountain Pine Ridge is a natural reserve in south central Belize’s Cayo district. Spread over a huge 300 sq miles of forest reserve, this reserve is just south of Western Highway, and the ridge can accessed via the Chiquibul Road or via the Cristo Rey Road from Georgeville and Santa Elena respectively. The reserve was set up in 1944 and the main purpose rather than preservation was to manage the pine forest. The human presence in the area is very sparse and the largest population of some hundred people is found in D’Silva forest station, which also doubles up as the headquarters of the Forest Department’s western division.     The town of Dangriga is located in southern part of the wonderful Belize. Popularly known as Stann Creek town, the city is also the capital of the Stann Creek district of the Belizean nation and located off the Caribbean ocean at the mouth of the Stann Creek. This town is also ranked as the largest in Southern Belize. There are an estimated 12,000 residents of the town, most of who are from the Garinagu community or the black Caribs, a name that dates back to the time when the British were present. Besides, there are people of the Mestizos and Kriols community as well. Dangriga is the home to these Garifuna people and the town comes alive in November every year during the week-long festivities that culminate into the Garifuna Settlement Day.   [...]
