Jaco is a town in Costa Rica known for its laidback and calm lifestyle. Jaco beach is one of most visited beaches in Costa Rica. It is located to the north of the Puntarenas province along the Pacific coast of the country. It is a two-hour drive from San José. Known for its nightlife, Jaco Beach is a haven for the party animal. The inhabitants of Jaco Beach are warm, friendly, and hospitable. The summers see a rise in the number of international tourists.

There are several accommodations that suit every budget. The restaurants serve local cuisine. The tour operators in the area provide you with a number of activities such as horse rides, sport fishing, and kayaking.

Swim here with caution as riptides are plenty and can be dangerous. The streets of Jaco are crowded with bars, clubs, and boutiques selling souvenirs. If you visit the area during the spring break, you are sure to encounter myriad experiences. You will need a souvenir to remember these events.

Besides surfing, the Jaco beach is famous for its nightlife. Clubs and restaurants abound in number, and you get a close view of the wild side of the country. The Jaco beach lies to the south of Puntarenas. The Jaco beach and the city can be interchanged as one cannot exist without the other.

Although surfing is popular, the Jaco beach is not overwhelming. The sand has a grayish tinge to it. The tropical atmosphere of the region also seems daunting at times. The winters, too, witness a large number of tourists. Hermona Beach lies to the south of Jaco. There are umpteen surfing rentals available at Jaco Beach. Sport fishing is another favorite activity. Kayaking, hiking, and horseback riding are other activities.

There are several hotels and restaurants near the Jaco beach area. The hotels are not just for the super rich. Even the budget traveler can find accommodations here. As you travel further down south, the atmosphere gets quieter. This makes it necessary to make advance bookings to avoid disappointment.

Some establishments offer tours. The most popular tour is the one to Carara Biological Reserve. It serves as the breeding ground for scarlet macaws. Other wildlife species include armadillos, otters, and kinkajous.
