Palo Verde National Park is located in Costa Rica; in Spanish the park is referred to as Parque Nacional Palo Verde. This national park is included in the country’s Tempisque Conservation Area; the largest share of this conservation area is situated on Tempisque River valley covering over 45,492 acres of Guanacaste Province. To be more precise, Palo Verde is located 30Km towards the west of the canton, Canas.

The region is covered by tropical dry forest; the place is also home to limestone ridges, seasonal pools, marshes and vital floodplains. These creations of nature are conserved here from encroachment of human civilization for saving the vulnerable ecology of the region from being destroyed.

During your visit to the Palo Verde National Park, you will get to explore through the park’s Ranger Station. The Ranger Station stays open from 8am till dusk. The place has restrooms and potable water for making the voyage comfortable for the visitors. The other notable area of the national park is the Biological Station. The park is particularly famous for being home to a wide range of avian species.

This reserve forest was originally established with the aim of preserving the endangered bird species. The entire area of the park is segmented into 15 topographical zones, which ranges from mangrove swamps to evergreen forests. Each of these topographical regions houses bird species that are naturally suited to their respective environment. The bird species that can be spotted regularly at the Palo Verde National Park include names like Scarlet Macaws, wood storks, Great Curassows, white ibis, anhingas, roseate spoonbills, jabirus and many such others.

As mentioned earlier, Palo Verde protects an extremely endangered ecosystem on earth. The park is among the few existing dry tropical rainforests of the world. Earlier, most part of the Central America was covered by dry tropical rainforests; however, currently only 0.1% of Central America has this ecosystem. It is believed that if the plans drafted by the Palo Verde National Park work in the right direction, this ecosystem will be protected successfully.

If you are in Jaco, a coastal city located in the Puntarenas province of Costa Rica, one of the best accommodation options you will come across is the Aparthotel Vista Pacifico. The hotel is famous for the magnificent views of sunrise and sunset accessible from its balconies and terrace.

El Silencio Lodge and Spa is a veritable refuge from the madding crowds. It is set far apart from the tourist hordes in a tiny town in the clouds known as Bajos del Toro. This is one of the best places to head to when you are on the lookout for peace and quiet.

Unlike popular destinations such as Monteverde, the El Silencio (suitable name!), is a treasured resort for mainly Costa Rican families rather than the international set. You can fish in the mountain streams here for trout. The numerous waterfalls here are stunning in every sense.

El Silencio is owned by the luxury resort chain responsible for the Punta Islita. It was opened in Nov 2007, and had the first luxury property along the shore of the El Gorrean River. There are sixteen suites at the exclusive property. Each suite is set in a delightful cabin of its own that overlooks the rainforest and the river. El Silencio is the one ideal destination that has its focus on communion with nature, relaxation and well being.

The inviting architecture tries to incorporate as much of the outdoors as possible. There are some superb large windows that let in the air and natural light as much as possible. You can actually get an almost three hundred and sixty degree view of the pristine wilderness outside. There are a good number of facilities and amenities on offer as well.

Isla Cocos was a very different place a number of centuries in the past. It was a famous pirates’ den. Many say that Robert Louis Stevenson derived inspiration for Treasure Island from the island. The island is also thus famous for legends about buried treasures by famous pirates of history. Pirates such as William Thompson (1821), Benito Bonito (1820) and earlier still – Edward Davis (1685) are said to have hidden their stash of doubloons here. If they have, none has been found out yet, or rather, noone knows if anyone has found out.

Isla Cocos has been called a tiny Galapagos island. The Cocos Island National Park is filled with diverse natural attractions and flora and fauna. The park is situated at the tip of a now inactive mountain which is secluded by the Pacific Ocean that surrounds it. It has been colonized for hundreds of years, and is shrouded by thick forests. There are a great number of excellent sights here.

The island is home to a number of animal, bird, reptile and species. These are of such forms that are never seen in any other region in the world. This is because these species evolved after they arrived on the island. These are known as endemic species.

Isla Cocos is home to endemic avian species including the Flycatcher, the Finch and the Cocos Cuckoo. The Finch has a famous cousin – The Darwin’s finch at the Galapagos Island. There are a number of endemic species other than these, and these are inclusive of two lizards, freshwater fish as well as more than a hundred insects.

Guayabo is an architectural site in Costa Rica, Central America. It is the largest city from pre-Columbian times that has been discovered. For many years, a large portion of the lands of Guayabo were inhabited by pre-Hispanic people of Costa Rica. The archeological ruins have indicated that there was a well flourished society that was headed by Cacique, a political head and a religious chief Saman. The society was governed under the rules of these two powers. The population was a mixture of Mexican and Columbian people.

In the vicinity of Turrialba, there was a vast area under cultivation and hunting of animals. There were a number of fishing grounds also. The remains of Guayabo are not colossal or gigantic like other archeological sites of Central America. The excavated site is more than 20 feet in area. A number of terraces, tombs, bridges have been found from the remains. A number of petroglyphs and water tanks have also been recovered from the ruins of Guayabo. The excavations show that there was advancement in the fields of Science and technology as well as architecture.

The monoliths have carved imaged of animals like crocodiles, jaguars etc. This shows fully developed craftsmanship and art. Some of the sculptures found on the site have not been deciphered; hence a lot has to be explored about the city of Guayabo. Circular shaped mounds with diameters as large as 30 m have been found. Some of these mounds were used as the base material for the houses as they were not made up of a solid material.

The roads were made up of rocks and they led to the forests built over a height. The people knew how to dig canals. The canals were opened as per the requirement of the city. Workmanship is visible from the objects made from gold and stone. The tombs have been found at the multiple places which prove that the bodies were buried at several places. Graves were engraved using stones. Guayabo was a major commercial hub before the arrival of Hispanic people.

Guayabo National Park has a variety of wide animals. Snakes, armadillos, wild cats can be seen frequently. There are no restaurants in the park. Guayabo National Monument was created to protect the ruins of the city under the guidance of archeological authorities. The area covers 540 acres of land. The monument also serves to protect a forest area that is the only primary forest left in Cartago province. There are guided tours available to visit this site. The monument remain open between 8:00am to 4:00 pm. There is also an archeological research center in the vicinity of the monument. A picnic area is also present near monument where camping facilities are provided.

There are no huge structures, so a tourist has ample space to explore the site. According to archeological surveys, only 10 % of the area is excavated till now. To get to the ruins, a 2 hour journey can be done from Cartago and after going 15 km up the road, Guyabo can be seen.

Located in the Alajuela valley, Costa Rica, Butterfly Farm is a famous for a breeding ground of different type of butterflies. The Farm is situated at about a distance of 500 meters from Los Reyes Club. A guided tour of about 2-hours is provided by the authorities. One can have a unique experience of watching thousands of colorful butterflies. The farm was opened in 1990. It was first farm in Central America that had live-exhibits of the beautiful butterflies. The farm was the brainchild of Joris and his wife Maria. Together, they developed Kepepeo project that laid the foundation of this farm. Costa Rica has the maximum number of butterflies in the world, hence attracts a large number of tourists from all over the world.

The airport in Liberia, which is the new hub on the international city, is sort of like a nice big beacon of modern transportation. This is a terminal that consists of a warehouse which is open air. The warehouse also has tin rood which is quite corrugated. There is a huge fan which is used for cooling the whole thing these stir up the grasshoppers into a huge frenzy. When you are one of the visitors who keep the company of butterflies and you could also see the blasé frog that you would see quite occasionally on your Guanacaste travel.

The pacific coast of Costa Rica which has the Guanacaste province is the place where lots of surfers and back packers come to visit. This place is deterred by a long and tiring drive which lasts you for around five hours from San Jose International Airport. Guanacaste Costa Rica has been transformed into a large collection of hotels and developments of real estate which are aimed at the baby boomers in America.

When you, in fact, look to the coast, you will see lots of bulldozers probably doing their work. There are three major developments. The four season’s hotel is one project which is anchored here. There are huge and plush luxury condos which go up and there are hundred of smaller condos which make for awesome endeavors while you break ground; While you are on your Guanacaste travel. There is a huge airport in Liberia. This also happens to be the capital of the lovely city of Guanacaste Costa rica. This place also happens to be right in the center of the Transformation.

There are huge Wild West opportunities, and even though this place is filled with a backbone of cattle ranchers and rods that are nicely rutted. There are new homesteaders who come here with a vision of beach, golf and spa area which serves and a lovely destination for the Puerto Vallarta corridor in Mexico. This whole place is on the high rise blight. The tourists who come here also relate it to the new gold coast; which you can only experience on your Guanacaste travel.

This place used to be an abbreviated block office which was located in a tiny fishing village in playa Hermosa.

The mattering of vacations homes in the whole of Central America is something of a bargain basement which is probably targeted at the older expats who are looking for a place to settle down into and spend the rest of their days here.

The whole things have been quite accelerated now and, this trend is spread to Panama, Honduras, Belize and Nicaragua. There are ocean front real estates for cheap prices on land that was earlier almost undeveloped.
