The Abaco Islands or Abacos are located in northern portion of the wonderful Bahamas. The Abacos constitute mainly the Little Abaco and Great Abaco islands along with all the Cays, which include Walker’s Cay, Umbrella Cay, Stranger’s Cay, Great Stirrup Cay, Man-o-War Cay, Castaway Cay, Great Guana Cay, Lubbers Quarters Cay, Elbow Cay, and Wood Cay. These islands form a significant portion of the entire Bahamas nation, and the Abacos itself constitutes 5 districts of the total 31. The districts are Hope Town, Moore’s Island, South Abaco, North Abaco and Central Abaco.
The total population of the islands stands at 14,000, with the city of Marsh Habour the capital. The combined Abacos ranks as the third largest Bahamian island.
