    The Mountain Pine Ridge is a natural reserve in south central Belize’s Cayo district. Spread over a huge 300 sq miles of forest reserve, this reserve is just south of Western Highway, and the ridge can accessed via the Chiquibul Road or via the Cristo Rey Road from Georgeville and Santa Elena respectively. The reserve was set up in 1944 and the main purpose rather than preservation was to manage the pine forest. The human presence in the area is very sparse and the largest population of some hundred people is found in D’Silva forest station, which also doubles up as the headquarters of the Forest Department’s western division.     San Pedro is a famous city, located on the south of the Ambergris Cay in Belize. Part of the Belize district, the town is home to around 12,400 people, which makes it the second most populous town in the district. Tourism is the life line of the city and it is known the world over for its scuba diving capabilities. Most of the visitors to San Pedro are renowned divers and the island’s hyperbaric decompression chamber is heavily visited by tourists.     San Ignacio is a small town in western Belize. The town is the capital of the country’s Cayo District. Located on the banks of the Mopan and Macal Rivers, the town is around 72 miles west of the capital Belize City. The population of the town is around 16,400 people. Over the years, this town has absorbed the Santa Elena village. San Ignacio along with Santa Elena forms the country’s second largest urban area. These two towns are separated by the popular Macal River and a piece of history, the country’s only suspension bridge dating back to 1949, better known as the Hawksworth Bridge.
